1/24/21

Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 charitable organization solely dedicated to supporting Broward County Public Schools, announced it has received a grant for $5,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions.

Broward Education Foundation will utilize its STEM Solutions for Florida’s Future grant to support Broward County Public Schools’ Mission to Mars project. This innovative program is designed to enlighten students about engineering design, rapid prototyping, programming and the fight operations for rockets, with mentoring supported by engineers and computer programmers.

“This Motorola Solutions Foundation grant will have a tremendous impact on the future of Broward County Public Schools students as it could spark a passion and led to a career in engineering and space exploration,” said Shea Cirago, executive director of Broward Education Foundation. “The Mission to Mars project is a hands-on learning opportunity designed to nurture students’ interests in science, technology, engineering and math.”

The Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations, such as Broward Education Foundation that support and advance education initiatives in public safety and technology and engineering. Additionally, the Foundation has a long-standing commitment to supporting programs that benefit underrepresented populations, including females, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans and others.

“This year, the Foundation’s grants will support programs that help millions of students, teachers, first responders and community members around the globe,” said Karem Perez, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “We are thrilled to partner with organizations like Broward Education Foundation that are actively making a positive difference in their communities.”
