On November 11, 2020, Golf Items for the Troops (GIFT) will be holding its first ever Golf Tournament at LELY Golf Course and Country Club in Naples, Florida. The tournament is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and will be held in a scramble format.
Founded in Massachusetts, GIFT is a charitable organization that collects, donates, and distributes golf items for our active military US troops and Veterans. GIFT reaches out to the community to collect, clean, and organize golf equipment to be shipped to our active and retired military members in the US and overseas.
According to GIFT’s Chief Executive Officer and 3-time PGA Junior Golf Player of the Year, Marshall Clemens, GIFT is building capital now for the big-picture future, which will include assistance for Veterans. “I founded gift as an opportunity to give back to those who risk their lives for our democracy. I’ve always wanted to help the veterans. This is the most I can do to help,” said Clemens. Clemens is a native of Weston, MA and a New Seabury, MA resident.
The cost to participate in the tournament for a single is $85 and $340 for a foursome. Donations of used golf clubs and equipment are welcome, and those that donate will get a discounted entry fee. Additionally, GIFT is partnering with Texas Tony’s Rib & Brew House in Naples, Florida on the event. Texas Tony’s will offer reduced prices on select food items and buy one get one free drinks.
