The Broward Center for the Performing Arts recently honored the 10th graduating class of the Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program consisting of 25 participants from area high schools and home schooling programs.
Teen Ambassadors bring a unique perspective to Broward Center events as they detail, through written and video reviews, their behind-the-scenes experiences and exclusive educational opportunities, including introductions to every artistic discipline.
With theaters dark, the students concluded the program by reviewing streaming performances of Broadway, classical, dance, opera and jazz remotely. The final meeting of the season was held via ZOOM where students gathered to look back on the year, share memories and hear the graduating seniors share their future plans.
The teens also enjoyed warm video greetings of well wishes and congratulations from many Partners in the Arts including Broadway Across America, Slow Burn Theatre Co., Miami City Ballet, Gold Coast Jazz and Symphony of the Americas, with a warm farewell from Broward Center CEO Kelley Shanley. A special invitation was extended to graduating seniors to participate in upcoming cue times with Broward Center volunteers to keep them connected to the Broward Center family.
The Teen Ambassador fosters the next generation of performing arts fans and nurtures a fresh perspective on traditional and contemporary arts.Acting as in-house theater critics, they demonstrate a dedication to both the performing arts and writing. The students also earn community service hours through this innovative program.
Public, private and home-schooled high school students residing in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties are eligible to participate in the Teen Ambassador program. The deadline to apply for the 2020-2021 class is Friday, August 28 and applications are available now at
