Melsie Ordoñez, PE, CxA, LEED AP, has joined the global integrated design firm Stantec as buildings engineering principal in its Miami office. In this role, Ordoñez will oversee and support engineering for hospitality, institutional, and aviation projects while developing the local healthcare, lab-research facility and ports-marine markets.

Ordoñez brings 21 years of experience in managing and designing mechanical systems for the healthcare, higher education and transportation markets internationally and throughout the southeastern United States. Her expertise includes project management, HVAC building, utility and LEED Certification design as well as construction administration and commissioning. She is well-versed in coordination and compliance with AHCA personnel on healthcare projects throughout Florida. Ordoñez has also managed multiple mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing plan reviews and approvals and has extensive knowledge of AHCA procedures and protocols.

Prior to joining Stantec, Ordoñez was a senior mechanical engineer and director of operations at an international consulting engineering firm in Miami, overseeing healthcare, institutional and aviation clients such as Jackson South Community Hospital, Miami Dade College, Florida International University, and Miami International Airport. She also served as a mechanical engineer at various engineering firms in Miami and Jacksonville, managing numerous healthcare, education, and governmental projects, including Baptist Medical Center, Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Baptist Health South Florida, Cleveland Clinic, TEVA Pharmaceuticals, Florida Atlantic University, Jacksonville University, and Duval County Public Schools.

Ordoñez earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. She is an active member of ASHRAE, the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association, and the 100 Women Who Care Organization’s Miami Chapter—an all-volunteer organization that helps local charities.
