The Rotary Club of Weston teamed up with Exquisite Catering by Robert to provide 40 hot meals for young adults and teenagers who are part of the HANDY foster care program.
The Rotary Club of Weston created a program in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic called Feeding the Frontline to support the community in several ways: To show appreciation to health care workers and first responders, to assist families that have hit hard economically by the coronavirus pandemic, and to give business to local restaurants and caterers to keep their employees working.
The young adults and teenagers served today are transitioning out of foster care and many have lost their jobs to layoffs.
“We want to thank the Rotary Club of Weston and Exquisite Catering for opening their big hearts and taking some stress off of our clients about how they are going to put food on the table even if for just a couple of days,” said Kirk Brown, HANDY CEO.
Broward County-based HANDY serves children and youth from ages nine-25 years old who have been removed from their homes due to domestic violence, abuse and/or abandonment and have been placed in foster care. The organization also supports youth who’ve aged out of the system and transitioning to adulthood.
Exquisite Catering serves South Florida businesses and nonprofits and plans special events of all sizes, offering a broad menu for any occasion.
