Christopher Horton Elected To Board Of Directors For American Institute Of Constructors

Smith Currie & Hancock LLP is pleased to announce that partner Christopher M. Horton has been elected to the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Constructors (AIC). He will serve a three-year term.

AIC is an organization dedicated to promoting individual professionalism and excellence throughout the related fields of construction. The Institute is considered the constructor’s counterpart of professional organizations found in architecture, engineering, law and other fields. As such, the Institute serves as the national qualifying body of professional constructors.

Horton is a partner in Smith Currie’s Fort Lauderdale office. He concentrates his practice in the area of construction law, representing construction, design and engineering clients in state and federal courts, litigation, arbitration, and mediation throughout the State of Florida. He is also experienced in the preparation and negotiation of design and construction contracts.

Horton received his juris doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Jacksonville University. In addition to his involvement with AIC, Horton is also a member of Associated Builders & Contractors- Florida East Coast Chapter, the Construction Association of South Florida, the American Society of Concrete Contractors and The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section
