United Way of Broward County’s Women United, a powerful network of women confronting head-on the most critical issues facing the Broward County community, is hosting its 9th Annual Magnolia Luncheon on Thursday, April 30 at Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach. The “who’s who” of Broward County women will attend the popular event, which recognizes women of dignity, strength and perseverance. The VIP reception will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

United Way of Broward County has been focused on supporting Broward County for 80 years. Formed in 2003, Women United was created to encourage women leaders within the community to pledge a commitment to United Way of Broward County. Each year, Women United focuses their efforts on specific priority United Way projects.

The event will honor Cathy Donnelly, director of Community Relations at Castle Group, as the recipient of the Woman of Inspiration Award. Jamie Hagar, employee benefits consultant at Marsh & McLennan Agency ? Florida, will be honored with the Woman of Promise Award. The event’s co-chairs are author Susie Levan and April Lewis-Parks, Consolidated Credit.

Prior to the luncheon, guests will have the opportunity to visit The Marketplace, and browse among some of Broward County's most beautiful boutiques.

In addition, 100 tickets will be sold for a chance to win the Secret Armoire featuring luxurious goods valued at over $5,000. Guests can enter the drawing for $100, and must be present at the luncheon to claim the prize.

“I am looking forward to co-chairing this year’s Magnolia Luncheon, and predict that it will be the most successful event thus far,” said Levan. “Five-hundred attendees will enjoy a lovely afternoon of raising much-needed funds for Women United’s projects, plus listening to our guest speaker, and honoring Cathy Donnelly and Jamie Hagar. This is a great opportunity to network among women who are constantly putting forth the effort to make a difference in our community.”

“United Way is celebrating 80 years, and this is a ‘not-to-miss’ event that is attended by many amazing women in the Broward County community every year,” said Lewis-Parks. “It’s an occasion that attendees will remember for years to come.”
