Three South Florida charities scored a share of a $54,000 prize during Sunday’s Big Game, courtesy of BankUnited’s GoForMore54 game day contest.
Representatives of United Way of Miami-Dade, YWCA Greater Miami-Dade and Carrfour Supportive Housing each were presented with a check for $18,000 on behalf of Miami Lakes-based BankUnited, which ran a contest during Sunday’s game with a chance for one individual to win $54,000 if either team scored a two-point conversion. With neither team attempting to go for two, BankUnited designated the three local charities to share the prize.
As part of the GoForMore54 contest, Twitter users were encouraged to follow and tweet @BankUnited using #GoForMore54 to answer the question, “What would you do with $54,000?” Responses ran the gamut, with the most frequent responses falling into the following categories: pay off debt, such as student loans and medical bills; purchase a home; and take a vacation to a tropical locale.
