South Florida entrepreneur David Finkelstein has turned ‘big data” into big success.

Founded in 2014 in Coral Springs, his BDEX data exchange platform is now a mult-million-dollar company that has achieved 400% growth in revenue over the past two years.

BDEX currently has 11 employees, including the new hire of Tara Maitra as chief revenue officer. Maitra comes to BDEX after serving as senior vice president and general manager of the content, ad sales and data divisions at Tivo, one of the nation’s largest media companies.

“Tara is one of the top experts and executives in the media and data industry, and we’re excited to welcome her to the BDEX team,” said Finkelstein. Maitra also held senior roles at media giants NBC Universal and Comcast.

Serving large corporate clients with leading data technology has been a major factor in BDEX’s rapid success. Clients include NBCUniversal, TripAdvisor and Synchrony financial services company.

BDEX has developed technology that gathers and delivers comprehensive actionable consumer data in real time for companies to more effectively attract and retain customers. In addition to media and marketing companies, BDEX has established strong business in the automotive, retail, retail and franchise sectors.

The platform’s proprietary software allows users to better understand consumer interests, behaviors, and purchasing intents based on more than 1 trillion continually updated data sets gathered from thousands of partners, websites and mobile apps.

Finkelstein is a serial entrepreneur who has founded numerous internet companies, including a digital advertising agency that led to the launch of BDEX.

“We were collecting tons of data while developing targeted advertising for ebay, Verizon and ATT users,” Finkelstein said. “Companies wanted to buy this data, but they didn’t really know how to use it quickly or efficiently. The BDEX platform solved this problem.”

Finkelstein also credits Entrepreneurs’ Organization South Florida (EO SOFLO) for his company’s rapid success.

“The mentoring and peer-to-peer support from other EO members provides an amazing amount of confidence in all the areas it takes to launch, run and grow a business,” Finkelstein said. “And as far as navigating the capital raising process, I give 100% of the credit to EO.”

EO SOFLO is one of the world’s largest EO chapters, with approximately 200 members whose businesses account for more than $2 billion in annual revenues and 10,000 jobs in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

One of Finkelstein’s mentors and closest EO contacts is financial and wealth manager Noah Rosenfarb, who specializes in helping entrepreneurs growth their businesses and assets.

“David is an extremely creative and insightful problem-solver. He’s a natural at looking deeply into data and pulling out the most important information,” said Rosenfarb. “All of us at EO knew his new big data venture would be a big success.”
