Hailed by many as the authority on the world’s best wines, and celebrating the 10th anniversary of his global wine media company JamesSuckling.com, acclaimed wine critic James Suckling will present an unprecedented opportunity for wine lovers with the debut of Great Wines of the World USA in Miami (already sold out unless you have connections) on January 23 and 24 at the Moore Building in the Design District. Representing the first time that this spectacular collection of wine from around the world has been brought to the United States after a smashing success in Asia, the wine tasting extravaganza will feature an impressive line-up of more than 120 top producers from the globe’s greatest wine regions – all hand–picked by Suckling himself – from Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild to Opus and Antinori.
Celebrated owners and winemakers of these iconic wineries will also be in attendance, presenting two top vintages for tasting ?and sharing their valuable insights. This will be the foremost new super-premium consumer wine event in the U.S. and?a must-attend event for members of the wine industry and true wine aficionados.
“I hope that Great Wines of the World in Miami will become the iconic fine wine event for Latin America as well as the United States,” said James Suckling, who rated more than 25,000 wines from around the world with his small team of tasters. He spends a month a year in South America tasting more than 2,000 wines. “Miami is the new center of the universe for fine wines and it is a portal for the fine wine world in Latin America, just like Hong Kong is for Asia.”
Suckling’s company organizes 25 wine events around the world that resemble rock concerts for wine with cool venues, video screens and curated music from the former guitarist of the famous Australian rock band Empire of the Sun, Surahn Sidhu. Almost 30,000 people attend Suckling’s events each year around the world.
Surahn Sidhu, who has been touring the world with Suckling for years to deliver the best music, is bringing a new rock show to Miami’s Great Wines of the World on the night of January 23 that will feature an amazing light show with a mix of live and DJ inspired music. It’s called “Happiness is Wine” and Suckling and the recording artist hope to roll it out around the world after the event.
Great Wines of the World allows guests to taste and experience outstanding wines from the world’s most renowned vineyards and boutique wineries – all having scored a minimum of 90 points by James Suckling, with the majority scoring 95 points and above, including 16 perfect 100-point wines.
As noted, the event is two nights with a welcome gala dinner, show and after party on the first night and the Grand Tasting on the second. Both days will unfold at the Moore Building in Miami’s vibrant Design District. The dinner on January 23 will be organized by one of the geniuses of Peruvian food, Gaston Acurio of La Mer, featuring amazing ceviches and other seafood to about 300 lucky people as it is sold out, with music and entertainment from Surahn Sidhu as mentioned. Suckling will also give unique awards for the wine of the decade, winery of the decade and winemaker of the decade.
“I can’t think of a better place on earth than Miami to celebrate the best of the decade and 10 years of JamesSuckling.com!” said James Suckling. “Gracias Miami!”
Capitalizing on a consecutive string of successes, in February, James Suckling will roll out Great Wines of Italy USA 2020, a hugely popular event series hailed as the largest annual premium Italian wine showcase in the U.S. The dynamic six-city tasting tour will travel across America’s most important wine hubs, including Dallas, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, and concluding in Miami on March 6.
