Fall into Autumn with Dade Heritage Trust’s “Take the Last Train to Brownsville” Bike Tour

9/30/19

Get into the fall spirit during Dade Heritage Trust’s “Take the Last Train to Brownsville” Bike Tour on Oct. 13. The tour will take riders through Miami’s historic Brownsville neighborhood.

Home to significant historic and cultural sites, including the Historic Hampton House, Lincoln Memorial and Evergreen Cemeteries, Georgette’s Tea Room and more, Brownsville’s history is rich and cornerstone of Miami’s history.

“This African-American neighborhood offers a glimpse of the days of segregation in Miami and has amazing stories to tell and lessons to teach,” said Dade Heritage Trust Executive Trust Executive Director Christine Rupp. “We’ll not only visit Brownsville, but we’ll also explore how this neighborhood has changed since it was established in the 1920s.”

The “Take the Last Train to Brownsville,” Bike Tour ride will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Dade Heritage Trust, 190 SE 12 Terrace, Miami. Tickets are $5 for DHT members and $10 for non-members, and are available at https://dadeheritagetrust.org/event/take-the-last-train-to-brownsville-bike-tour/. Participants will meet at Dade Heritage Trust and bike to the Brickell Metrorail Station with bikes for a ride to the Brownsville Station

Dade Heritage Trust does not provide bikes, so riders must bring their own bikes or rent a Citi Bike nearby. Ride leaders will provide safety guidelines as cyclists make their way through the tour, but for this tour riders must be experienced and confident enough to navigate urban Miami streets.

Join DHT on its themed bike rides on the second Sunday of each month. To learn more about Dade Heritage Trust call 305-358-9572 or visit dadeheritagetrust.org.
