The Florida Council of 100 has appointed The Easton Group President, Jose A. Hernandez-Solaun, as a board member. Formed in 1961, the Council is a private, nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that promotes economic growth in Florida.

Hernandez-Solaun joins a board that is composed of top business, civic and academic leaders throughout the state. They all have a mission to improve the life and economic well-being of all Floridians through better, business-driven public policy.

“I am honored to be part of an esteemed group of leaders who are working diligently to improve our great state,” said Hernandez-Solaun. “I look forward to serving and contributing in any way I can to further the mission.”

As president of The Easton Group, Hernandez-Solaun is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of a long-established and well-respected commercial real estate company based in Doral. The Easton Group invests in, develops, brokers and manages nearly 5-million square feet of commercial real estate assets throughout Florida and in other parts of the United States.

Prior to entering the real estate industry, Hernandez-Solaun spent 15 years in financial services, serving as senior vice president of GE Capital. With a passion for entrepreneurship, he served as a founding advisory board member for The Idea Center at Miami-Dade College and a former chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of South Florida.

Hernandez-Solaun is also passionate about helping the community. He currently sits on the Miami Foundation Board of Trustees and was recently appointed to the prestigious Orange Bowl Committee. He is a former chair of the American Diabetes Association for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, operates his own foundation and co-founded an organization that raises money for nonprofits with specific needs.

Hernandez-Solaun earned his BA in Entrepreneurship, Marketing and International Business from Florida International University and his MBA from the University of Miami. He also received an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from MIT.
