Event raised funds and built awareness for Feeding Florida

TooJay's Deli recently welcomed guests to a VIP reception celebrating the opening of itsnewest restaurant prominently located at 2980 N. Federal Highway, just south of Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

The VIP reception, along with a Friends & Family event, raised $1,860 to benefit Feeding Florida, a statewide network of food banks that supports initiatives to provide a healthy, adequate and consistent food supply to those in need. The amount raised will stay in the community to benefit Feeding South Florida and will equate to 20,460 meals for families supported by the program. TooJay’s began a partnership with Feeding Florida in 2017 and to date has more than raised $60,000 for the non-profit.

“We are very excited to introduce our authentic, New York-style deli to Fort Lauderdale and to become a part of this dynamic community,” said Maxwell Piet, TooJay’s president and CEO. “We invite our new neighbors to visit us and enjoy our simply great food and friendly service.”

The Fort Lauderdale restaurant is TooJay’s fifth in Broward County and the company’s 29th throughout Florida. Founded in 1981, TooJay’s currently serves guests in Palm Beach and Broward counties, Collier County, the Treasure Coast, the West Coast of Florida, the Orlando area and The Villages. The next new restaurant is expected to open in Dania Beach in 2019.

TooJay’s received the 2019 Best of Palm Beach County Awards for Best Sandwich Shop and Best Dessert from The Palm Beach Post, the 2018 Best of the Menu Tracker for its Nova Latkes from Nation’s Restaurant News, the 2018 Restaurant Neighbor Award as a State Winner from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for its work with Feeding Florida, the 2018 and 2017 Dining Award for Best Deli from Orlando Magazine and two 2017 Foodie Awards for Best Deli and Best Take-Out from theOrlando Sentinel.
