- Opening April 18th, Bonnier’s latest show will feature original works by renowned conceptual artist, Richard Höglund -
The Bonnier Gallery Inc. – Miami’s newest minimalist and conceptual fine art gallery - is pleased to present Symposium, its first solo exhibition by American Conceptual artist, Richard Höglund, an artist whose work is steeped in philosophy and language. The upcoming show is set to open on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m. and will feature twelve new experimental works by the renowned artist.
“In my mind, poetry is simply a medium for conceptual artists,” said Grant Bonnier. “I wanted to bring attention to work that highlighted this relationship between visual and conceptual work. Richard’s upcoming show is a perfect example of that dynamic.”
In 2006, Höglund made his solo debut at Mumok, Vienna, Austria and has continued to make his mark with exhibitions around the world. Now in his latest suite of paintings, Höglund uses wine as his primary medium and utilizes experimental materials and techniques to heighten interconnected rituals of divinity and collective celebration. Drawing inspiration from figures as varied as Shiva and Dionysus, Höglund’s paintings encourage collaborative interpretations that amplify the mystical and the poetic.
"The works on paper are made using different wines that all include some amount of Syrah, silverpoint, needlepoint scoring, and watercolor washes,” says Höglund. “I wanted to think of this as a way of harnessing the power of iconoclasm to represent universal relationships such as those between the finite and the infinite, ivresse and the divine, and others contained within the Persian Polymath’s perennial text."
The Bonnier Gallery opened its doors to the public in November 2018 and is located in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood, adjacent to the internationally renowned art districts of Wynwood and Design District. Placing an emphasis on exceeding the expectations of even the most discerning collectors in the area, owners Grant and Christina Bonnier seek to broaden a market otherwise often limited to New York galleries.
