United Way of Broward County’s Women United ? a powerful network of women confronting head-on the most critical issues facing the Broward County community ? is hosting its 8th Annual Magnolia Luncheon on Wednesday, May 1 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. The event, which recognizes women of dignity, strength and perseverance, will be attended by the “who’s who” of Broward County women. The VIP reception will take place from 10:30–11:30 a.m., and the luncheon from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Formed in 2003, Women United was created to encourage women leaders within the community to pledge a commitment to United Way of Broward County. Each year, Women United focuses their efforts on specific priority United Way projects.

Due to its growing attendance, the luncheon was recently moved to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. Lisa Ling, award-winning journalist and host of CNN’s “This is Life with Lisa Ling” will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.

The event will honor Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President & CEO of Celebrity Cruises, as the recipient of the Woman of Inspiration Award. Nicole Golemi, Independent Business Development Consultant, will be honored with the Woman of Promise Award. The event’s co-chairs are Angie Davis and Alice Jackson.

“We are anticipating that this year’s Magnolia Luncheon will be the most successful to date,” said Davis. “We look forward to an enjoyable morning and afternoon of raising critical funds for Women United’s projects, as well as listening to Lisa Ling’s keynote speech, honoring Lisa Lutoff-Perlo and Nicole Golemi and mingling among women who are working to make a difference in our community.”

“We are thrilled to have Lisa Ling serve as the keynote speaker for this incredible event, which is attracting more and more attendees each day,” said Jackson. “This luncheon is the “must be at” luncheon every year and this year will be no exception!
