“We are very excited with this new challenge for us and for ANN,” said Carla Forte, writer and director of ANN. “the film has given us incredible rewards and recognition. We are looking forward to giving it new life with this adaption. What a better way to close this cycle than to performing it for Miami at such an iconic venue as is the Miami-Dade County Auditorium.”

The stage adaptation of ANN will be a mix-media piece that will be merge projection of some film extracts with a live performance. Reprising the role of Ann will be Venezuelan actor Carlos Antonio León, and back in the role of Ruben will be Juan Manuel Dominguez. ANN is the stage play version of the feature film ANN narrating the story of Ruben, a visual artist who has decided to abandon his tormented life by taking refuge within his own imagination; creating a world parallel to reality, which distances him from all material and emotional attachment, thus exorcising his ego.

His wife Ann, in the face of a deteriorating relationship, attempts to understand Ruben's idealized world; however, her husband's physical and psychological degradation unravels a terrible confusion between reality and his imaginarium (imaginary world), which inevitably will force him to choose which world to belong to before it is too late.

ABOUT MDCA

Miami Dade County Auditorium (MDCA) opened its doors in 1951 and has achieved a splendid history as one of South Florida’s premier performing arts centers. This popular multipurpose theatre features Art Deco Revival de?cor. It offers three dynamic presentation styles: a 2,372-seat theatre that can host major dance, theatre and music performances; a “Mid-Stage” theatre that can accommodate up to 450 patrons and is well-suited for small concerts, dance and theatre presentations, giving mid-sized organizations an ideal setting to showcase their work; and a 250- seat On.Stage Black Box theatre in which both audience and performers share the stage of the auditorium, adapted into an innovative studio theatre for more intimate - and often cutting-edge - shows. In January 2012, the operation of MDCA was transferred to the Department of Cultural Affairs, which has a track record of innovation and artistic excellence.
