Proceeds benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and ABC Cares Foundation

Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast presented a $10,000 check to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The funds were raised at its 2018 Spring Golf Tournament presented by ANF Group. Proceeds from the event also benefitted the ABC Cares Foundation, Inc.

The tournament, which was held at the Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, gave golfers the opportunity to enjoy international food and beverage pairings every third hole, including tacos, jerk chicken, beef and crab sliders, Funky Buddha beer and Malibu pineapple cocktails. 87 golfers made up the 22 teams in attendance.

“This year’s tournament took us on a trip around the world,” said Peter Dyga, president and CEO of ABC’s Florida East Coast chapter. “It’s always a great time when our members get together, especially for a Fridayafternoon golf outing, but knowing we are playing for two great causes made the afternoon more than just a social outing.”

The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida opened its doors in 1992. The hospital uses the latest technology to offer treatment for a wide scope of medical conditions and sees more than 65,000 emergency visits and 8,000 surgeries in a given year.

Baby Siegel, who received treatment at the hospital, was also in attendance.

Since 2010, the ABC Cares Foundation has donated more than $60,000 to construction professionals and their families in times of need. Since then, the goal has been to provide financial assistance and support before disability or insurance payouts are available. Previous initiatives have included grants and scholarships, events to benefit local charities, partnerships with the American Red Cross and providing funding for medical expenses and unexpected costs due to the loss of a loved one.
