The Allen Morris Company, in collaboration with the Morean Arts Center, officially unveiled The Hermitage Apartment Homes’ commissioned public art project, “Blank Facades,” and hosted a Gallery Talk with famed artist Elena Manferdini in St. Petersburg on Saturday, July 28. The colorful project is a permanent art display on the façade of the apartment building’s parking garage.
Residents, local art enthusiasts and Mayor Rick Kriseman enjoyed a reception followed by an engaging evening with the artist behind the colorfully-curated art project set directly on the façade of the luxury residential community’s parking garage.
The crowd fully experienced The Hermitage’s inspiring lifestyle and were welcomed by developer Allen Morris and the team behind the transformational development that continues to celebrate and add to the character and vibrancy of St. Petersburg and the city’s lively art scene through its dedication to the arts and inspiring modern living and design.
Set in the heart of the bustling Central Arts District, guests received a first look at the art project while experiencing an intimate discussion with the artist behind “Blank Facades.” Well-known for her global art projects, Manferdini is principal and owner of Atelier Manferdini and has more than fifteen years of experience in architecture, art, design, and education, having completed projects around the world including the Pavilion for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Bianca, a three stories boat in Japan, a series of interior design renovations in Los Angeles, and now at The Hermitage Apartment Homes.
Surrounded by lush landscaping, The Hermitage Apartment Homes is comprised of 348 rental units, including studios, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes and is The Allen Morris Company’s 80th development. Additionally, the development showcases artwork by local artists throughout the building’s main lobby gallery space.
