The Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards program recognizes outstanding students who have not only excelled academically, but who have also generously applied their knowledge and talents to contribute significant service to their schools and communities. Nominations are accepted in 10 categories; each Miami-Dade and Broward county school may nominate one student per category.

"This group of young men and women are a wonderful example of Gulliver's commitment to leadership through service," added Jonathan Schoenwald, Assistant Head of Schools for Grades 9-12 and Preparatory School Principal. "I wish the nominees all the best as they continue in the rigorous selection process, and look forward to supporting each of them throughout their endeavors."

One Silver Knight and three Honorable Mentions will be selected in each category by a panel of independent judges at Jungle Island on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. The names of the winners will be announced at the Silver Knight Awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. Silver Knights receive $2,000, a Silver Knight statue and a medallion. The three Honorable Mentions each receive $500 and an engraved plaque.
