Peckar & Abramson’s Miami Office Names Two Attorneys To Leadership Positions And Promotes Four Attorneys

The national construction law firm of Peckar & Abramson, P.C. has named two attorneys to leadership positions and promoted four attorneys in its Miami office.

In announcing the new promotions, P&A Chairman, Steven M. Charney, congratulated the attorneys and expounded upon the firm's decision to name new partners, stating, “Each year we have the pleasure of recognizing the growth and development of our dedicated attorneys. Partner Adam P. Handfinger has been named Co-Managing Partner of the Miami office having demonstrated a strong commitment to the firm with an energetic and capable style recognized by clients and peers alike. Jerry P. Brodsky, partner and Director of the firm’s Latin American Practice Group has also been named Vice-Chair of the firm’s newly formed International Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Peckar & Abramson’s international dispute resolution expertise includes Trans-Canadian pipelines to projects in Australia, Turkey and Iraq.

Warren E. Friedman has been promoted to Partner from Senior Counsel; Monique S. Cardenas has been promoted to Senior Counsel from Senior Associate; K. Stefan Chin has been promoted to Senior Counsel from Senior Associate; and Meredith N. Reynolds has been promoted to Senior Associate from Associate.

Handfinger focuses his practice on construction law and commercial litigation matters, representing construction professionals in issues relating to contract negotiation, project management, payment, bond claims, and the project closeout process, as well as the litigation of disputes. His experience includes settlement negotiations at all stages of construction projects, and he has worked to resolve disputes with vendors and suppliers, subcontractors, payment and performance bond sureties, liability insurers, lenders and owners. He holds a JD from Emory University School of Law.

Brodsky is Florida Bar Board Certified as a Construction Law Specialist and trilingual (English/Spanish/Portuguese). Many of his matters involve multi-cultural domestic or cross-border transactions and disputes. His practice includes the representation of international and domestic general contractors, construction managers, sureties and other construction professionals in the United States and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, in the preparation of contract documents, negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation of construction contract claims, construction and design defect claims, insurance claims, surety bond claims and related matters. Brodsky's practice and experience includes mega-projects for transportation and other infrastructures, as well as industrial, commercial and residential engineering and construction projects. He holds a JD from the University of Miami School of Law, summa cum laude.

Friedman focuses his practice on construction law and real estate counseling and litigation. He places particular emphasis on providing strategic business counseling to his clients designed to prevent costly disputes before they arise. His clients include contractors, construction managers, owner/developers, institutions, lenders and sureties on both private and public projects. Friedman also has extensive experience with licensure issues, surety relations, negotiating and drafting various contract documents, monitoring the construction process during construction, regulatory compliance and counseling clients through project administration. He holds a JD from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center.

Cardenas focuses her practice in the areas of construction law and commercial litigation and is certified as a LEED® Green Associate by the United States Green Building Council. She represents clients in construction lawsuits involving construction defects, delay claims, contractual disputes, lien disputes, bond claims, insurance claims, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, workers' compensation claims, governmental and environmental compliance claims and other construction-related claims. Cardenas’ notable client work includes representation of owners, construction managers, general contractors, public entities and sureties on a range of complex construction contract, project administration, and commercial litigation matters. She holds a JD from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Chin focuses on construction and other civil litigation including the representation of contractors, owners, other construction professionals, and sureties in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution board proceedings for construction and design-defect claims, contract claims, construction lien claims, delay and impact claims, bond claims, insurance claims, and related matters. His experience includes low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise residential and commercial projects in the U.S. and overseas, as well as large-scale transportation infrastructure and energy-related projects in the U.S. He holds a JD from Emory University School of Law.

Reynolds practices construction law and commercial litigation and represents and counsels construction and design professionals, commercial landlords, and other business clients in the areas of contract preparation and dispute resolution. Her practice includes the litigation of contract disputes, bond claims, construction lien foreclosures, insurance claims, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, and business torts. She has experience representing clients in state and federal courts, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, regulatory investigations, mediation, and in responding to grand jury subpoenas. She holds a JD from Loyola University School of Law, cum laude.
