Funds directly support FLIPANY’s Worksite Wellness and Cooking Healthy programs as part of the Live Healthy Miami Gardens Initiative

Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth (FLIPANY), a local non-profit organization whose mission is to empower youth and adults through nutrition and fitness education while raising awareness and creating policy changes for healthier, more food secure communities, joins the Live Healthy Miami Gardens initiative, a collective impact effort. Collective impact occurs when organizations from different sectors agree to solve a specific social problem using a common agenda, aligning their efforts, and using common measures of success.

As a result of the $75,000 grant from Health Foundation of South Florida, FLIPANY is working with community members, elected officials, subcommittees and workplaces in Miami Gardens to improve healthy lifestyles through access to health and wellness programs, creating policies around healthy eating and active living and changing systems and environments to include healthier food and more physical activity.

FLIPANY’s chefs and nutritionists are also providing healthy cooking and nutrition education classes to kids, families and community members in Miami Gardens. According to Lynne Kunins, FLIPANY’s President and CEO, “This grant from Health Foundation of South Florida helps to ensure residents of Miami Gardens will have access to professionals in the field of health and wellness. The goal is to bring the community together and make a lasting impact on residents’ ability to enjoy healthy lifestyles and improve their quality of life.”
