The South Florida Accelerator (TSFA), a regional start-up innovation accelerator/aggregator, today announced the opening of their new office space in Miami at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) at Converge Miami, to accommodate rapid growth and leverage the area’s diverse high-technology talent pool.
Thomas Buchar and Christopher Malter will be heading up the Miami operations. Both Buchar and Malter serve as The South Florida Accelerators co-founders and managing directors. Buchar is an angel investor, conservationist, and serial entrepreneur who has founded, funded, and exited several successful global ventures. Malter on the other hand has 20+ years specializing in life sciences, technology/telecom, energy and aerospace. He has also completed numerous capital raises for life sciences and tech companies. Most notably TSFA has recently announced their partnership with Citrix Systems, Inc. and Spyder Active Sports. TSFA intends to expand their portfolio of off-ramp companies within the life sciences and FinTech verticals at CIC.
General Manager of CIC Miami Natalia Martinez-Kalinina states “CIC Miami is thrilled to be welcoming The South Florida Accelerator to our growing community. We share TSFA's vision of creating a stronger innovation ecosystem here in South Florida and welcome the opportunity to collaborate on our dovetailing efforts. Their focus on life sciences compliments our vision of bridging the Health District and the rest of Miami's innovation corridor, and we believe TSFA will create synergies and organically expand the industry's momentum in South Florida.”
As an innovation aggregator facilitating ideation in life sciences, big data, human capital enterprise, and FinTech, The South Florida Accelerator’s largest differentiator regionally is their strategic partnerships, which at the very onset provide many of its startups the ability to create IP that can be off-ramped rapidly for acquisition and/or carry thru to commercial viability.
The newly designed office space is located at 1951 NW 7th Avenue and shares the space with Converge Miami, a private undertaking between the University of Miami and the developer, Wexford Science + Technology.
“The decision to expand our presence into the Miami area was a logical step in our business growth strategy,” said Buchar. “We have the opportunity to further grow staffing and capabilities, as well as increase our ability to attract more innovative companies and intellectual capital into the South Florida region.”
