Hector A. Chichoni
Duane Morris LLP Miami partner Hector A. Chichoni has been appointed chair of the South Florida (Miami) Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society (JRCLS), a 14,000+-member society dedicated to the ethical practice of law. A graduate of Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, Chichoni has been a member of the organization since 1996. Miami attorneys Tyler J. Tanner and Brian McKell were also elected chair-elect and secretary of the Chapter, respectively.
The JRCLS is comprised of lawyers, law school graduates and law school students around the world who seek to promote fairness and virtue upon the rule of law. The JRCLS emphasizes three basic values and attitudes toward the practice of law and the place of law in modern society: public service, loyalty to the rule of the law and to the Constitution of the United States, and appreciation for the religious dimension in both American society and in a lawyer’s personal life. Today, the international organization consists of 262 student and attorney chapters throughout the world and boasts over 14,000 members.
Chichoni’s appointment represents the third Duane Morris attorney actively serving as chair of a JRCLS chapter across the nation, building on the firm’s leadership with the organization. Attorney Ryan Borneman, a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office, serves as chair of the JRCLS Philadelphia chapter as well as chair of the Law Society’s Annual Conference Committee, which is tasked with organizing the national conference set to take place in Philadelphia in February 2017. Additionally, attorney Aaron Winn, a partner in the firm’s San Diego office, serves as chair of the JRCLS San Diego chapter.
“It is an honor to be appointed chair of such a prestigious organization that is devoted to promoting justice founded upon the rule of law and encouraging religious freedom,” said Chichoni. “I look forward to working alongside the Board to further advance our mission and meet the goals we’ve set forth for our chapter.”
Graduation from or current attendance at a law school and support of the mission statement are the only requirements for membership in the U.S. There is no requirement regarding religious preference, state bar membership, attorney status or attendance at any particular law school.
Chichoni practices in the area of U.S. and global immigration law and is the chair of the firm's Immigration Practice in Florida. He represents a vast majority of clients from Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, multinational corporations, and universities to doctors, professors and researchers. Also a member of Duane Morris’ Cuba Business Group, Chichoni is involved with the American Immigration Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, National Lawyers Guild, National Foreign Trade Council, and a number of local Chambers of Commerce.
Chichoni received his J.D. from Brigham Young University in 1996 after having earned a B.A. and M.P.A. from the same institution.
