This year, Westfield Broward will continue to host socially distanced events to engage with the local Broward community including Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, “The Black Print” Art Series, Moments of Culture, Drive N’ Drag, and more!

The events will take place at Westfield Broward located at8000 W. Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33388. Complimentary self-parking is available.

Event Name: Island SPACE Caribbean Museum

Date/Time: Feb. 1-28, 2021; Thursday-Sunday 11 a.m.– 7 p.m. Recurring event, through March.

Description:The Island SPACE Caribbean Museum pop-up will tell the story of the Caribbean from indigenous people, the colonial period, emancipation, to independence when the islands developed their own cultures. The museum will feature sections and displays featuring arts and entertainment such as rumba, reggaeton, calypso, soca, TV, literature, and sports. Additional sections will explore notable expatriates and people of Caribbean heritage such as Vice President Kamala Harris, U.S. founding father Alexander Hamilton, and Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress.

Cost: $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years.

Event Name: “The Black Print” Art Series

Description: In celebration of Black History month, Westfield Broward will be home to a new art series called “The Black Print” by artist Michael X. Hugue. This series will celebrate the influential black women of today. These women have broken down barriers, challenged the status quo, and have laid out the blueprint for achieving prosperity & limitless opportunities. From Stacey Abrams to Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, black women continue to be modern history makers, and game-changers.

Description: Partnering with ArtServe, Inc., Westfield Broward will be hosting a musician/artist pop up in the dining court every Friday, starting February 12, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Live DJ performance by The Whiskey Chick.Guests will also have an opportunity to meet “The Black Print” artist, Michael X. Hugue. The event will be socially distanced and masks are required.

Description: Westfield Broward is excited to host the Drive ‘N Drag Saves 2021, a magical immersive drive-in drag show experience, to spread cheers and queers throughout Florida and Texas this holiday season. The outdoor concert will take place from February 26–27, and feature iconic stars from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Attendees will get a live theatrical experience from the safety of their cars, concert style lighting, jumbotron screens and more! Ticket prices range from $75-$150.
