Virtual cooking classes will raise funds for substance abuse and mental health programming

House of Hope invites the community to cook for a cause!

The leading non-profit provider of substance abuse and mental health programming is excited to announce the launch of Cooking for Hope, a virtual cooking class series with celebrity chefs.

“We are thrilled to launch this new series and connect with the community and our supporters through fun, engaging and informative cooking classes,” said Sue Glasscock, House of Hope CEO. “Cooking for Hope is a great opportunity to enjoy a truly unique, intimate experience with friends and family while also supporting an important mission. The funds raised will benefit the men, women and families that we are dedicated to helping.”

The new series invites the community to join a variety of celebrity chefs as they demonstrate and guide guests through preparing a delicious three-course meal. The initial Cooking for Hope schedule includes:

  • Chef Dean Max on Wednesday, April 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and
  • Chef Pushkar Marathe on Sunday, June 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Chef Dean Max, president of DJM restaurants, a company that specializes in restaurant concept development and ongoing management, kicks off the new series. He is a well-known, celebrated chef who has opened several restaurants in South Florida including the famed 3030 Ocean Restaurant located in the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa.

“I’m looking forward to sharing some of my favorite culinary secrets to help out those who are spending more time at home cooking for their families,” said Max. “I’m particularly excited for this event because it is great to support such an important cause.”

The cooking classes will be held via Zoom and feature a moderator and live chat. For those who would like to cook along with the chef, an ingredient list will be sent to participants along with the Zoom link the week before the event. Alternative options can be provided for any dietary restrictions. Grocery delivery is available upon request for an additional cost.

Tickets are $75 per person. To register, visit houseofhope.org. The registration deadline for the April 7 cooking session is Wednesday, March 31. Proceeds from the night benefit House of Hope’s substance abuse and mental health programming.
