MD NOW Launches Membership-Based Healthcare Plan

9/16/20

MD Now DirectCare is a one-of-a-kind healthcare plan aimed to help uninsured or under insured Floridians get access to affordable care, including those impacted by COVID-19

MD NOW®Urgent Care, the largest and one of the fastest growing urgent care providers in Florida, has launched DirectCare, a membership-based healthcare coverage plan designed to make the cost of medical care more affordable for families and individuals, especially those who have lost their jobs and benefits during the pandemic.

MD Now DirectCare offers patients a comprehensive array of medical services including treatment of injuries, illnesses and chronic conditions, as well as physical examinations, vaccinations, and preventive health screenings. For a set monthly fee, these services are provided with no co-pay and no deductible!

There are three plans to choose from which include an individual plan for $99 per month, an individual plus spouse or unlimited children plan for $149 per month, and a family plan including unlimited dependents for $249 per month. There are no requirements to join nor annual contracts, and patients can cancel the monthly service plan at any time.

This is believed to be the first-of-its kind of program in Florida due to the affordability, breadth of treatment available, and convenient clinic locations.Patients have access to any of MD NOW’s 50+ state-of-the-art, physician-led clinics, 365 days a year.

“Many people carry no health insurance or have extremely high deductibles and the problem has only worsened with the COVID-19 pandemic that put thousands of people out of work and left them without any kind of benefits,” Dr. Jeffrey Collins, MD NOW’s Chief Medical Officer said. “Temporary insurance options can be extremely expensive, so we created an affordable healthcare plan to fill the gap.”

MD Now DirectCare services include:

  • Office visits and follow-up visits
  • Rapid-lab tests (flu, strep, pregnancy and more)
  • Seasonal vaccines
  • COVID testing
  • Physicals
  • Arm and leg splints
  • Wound care
  • Telemedicine services, and more.

Additional services that are not included in the monthly fee are discounted by up to 50%. Those services include, but are not limited to, send out labs, x-rays, and highly discounted prescription medications.

Unknown costs or high co-pays can put access to medical care out of reach, but MD Now DirectCare is designed to provide real savings. If a MD Now DirectCare member came in for a routine sick visit, it would be 100% covered under the program. However, that same visit would be, on average, about $100 with insurance coverage and $149 for a self-pay patient. Similarly, a visit for a broken arm would cost just $25 for an MD Now DirectCare member, but it might cost $150 with insurance coverage or approximately $220 if paid out-of-pocket.

DirectCare is ideal for self-pay patients, families, individuals, students and self-employed professionals,” Dr. Collins said. “We think this will appeal to patients looking to remove the financial uncertainty that often comes with routine healthcare.Although this is not a substitute for catastrophic medical insurance, MD Now DirectCare should cover about 90% of common medical needs.”

All MD Now locations are conveniently open seven days a week, 365 days a year. No appointments are necessary. Anyone interested in the program can visit MDNOW.COM/DirectCare to sign up.
