Bailey Hall presents The United States Navy Band Cruisers 2018 National Tour in a free concert on Sunday, July 8 at 2 p.m.

Formed in 1999 as a specialty unit of the United States Navy Band, the U.S. Navy's premier contemporary entertainment ensemble takes its name from the Navy's versatile, flexible, multi-missioned ship – the Cruiser – and performs a wide range of music including jazz, rhythm & blues, classic rock and contemporary pop as well as its own material.

This elite group of eight musicians and vocalists has engaged and excited audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and abroad with world-class musicianship and high energy, fun-filled performances. The Cruisers have released three recordings: Sounds of the Seasons, Chain Of Grooves and Cruisin' Roundabout.

Senior Chief Musician Leon E. Alexander, on drums and percussion, leads the ensemble. He studied percussion and jazz at Ohio’s Oberlin Conservatory of Music and has performed with Ellis Marsalis, Dr. John, Aaron Neville, The Dixie Cups, Marva Wright and the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra.
