Artist Reception to Take Place on Thursday, May 31

What/Who: The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is hosting a group exhibition of artists from ProjectArt, a nonprofit organization that provides free after-school art classes to underserved youth in public libraries through an artist residency program.

Taking inspiration from the libraries and communities they served for 9 months, these Miami-based, multi-disciplinary artists will come together to showcase the artwork they created during their tenure as ProjectArt Resident Artists. The artists teach, mentor youth, and create new works in eight public libraries across Miami-Dade County.

MOCA and ProjectArt will kick off the 4-day viewing with an opening event on Thursday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. that includes a 7:15 p.m. walk-through led by the artists who will offer exclusive insight into their works.

The exhibition will feature works by Alex Nuñez (Hispanic Branch Library), Anthony Anaya (North Central Branch Library), Blair Butterfield (Homestead Branch Library), Maria Theresa Barbist (Culmer/Overtown Branch Library), Morel Doucet (Arcola Lakes Branch Library), Rosa Naday Garmendia (Little River Branch Library), Rosemarie Romero (Model City Branch Library) and Stuart Sheldon (Edison Branch Library).
