Jaime Sturgis represents homegrown co-working operator in expansion beyond flagship FAT Village space

Jaime Sturgis of pioneering Fort Lauderdale commercial real estate firm Native Realty has successfully represented homegrown co-working space operator General Provision in a long-term lease for a brand-new location in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

General Provision signed a five-year lease with renewal options to open its second location inside a historic building with more than 6,000 square feet located at 300 SW First Ave, Suite 155. The company plans a three-story, technology focused co-working concept – the first of its kind – adjacent to a co-living project. An incubator will operate within the space.

The property is owned by Las Olas Riverfront LP, a Delaware corporation managed by prominent Fort Lauderdale developer Dev Motwani.

General Provision, a project powered by start-up studio TRIM Agency, has operated a FAT Village location for nearly four years. The525 NW First Ave. location is home to Broward County’s first independent Coding Academy.

“This new lease is another example of an amazing entrepreneurial success story happening within Fort Lauderdale’s urban core,” said Sturgis. “I have known General Provision founder Tim Hasse for many years, and he and his team have helped put FAT Village on the map as a hub for start-ups, creativity and technology. The company’s expansion into a ‘main and main’ location underscores the city’s increasing appeal among entrepreneurs and coders.”

The new downtown location is next door to the former Las Olas Riverfront site, which is being redeveloped by PMG as the mixed-use X Las Olas project. Plans call for two apartment towers with 1,200 units and 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.

“We're thrilled to open our second location in the downtown core of our city,” said Haase. “Our efforts in fostering a vibrant venture community through inspiring workspace and meaningful programming has found demand beyond our inaugural space in FATVillage. Entrepreneurs in the Creative Class are benefitting from the power of our platform, and we are excited to build tomorrow's companies in the heart of Fort Lauderdale at GP Downtown.”

A Fort Lauderdale native, Sturgis has been a driving force in identifying the city’s urban neighborhoods with untapped potential and generating leasing and investment sales activity in those emerging markets. He has dominated the Flagler Village neighborhood, completing 500,000 square feet in transactions in the last three years to help the now-popular area become a true live, work and play destination.

Native Realty is headquartered in Flagler Village’s the Hive – a popular complex with retail, restaurants, offices, a vintage arcade bar and yoga studio.
