Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Joined Miami Marlins’ Cameron Maybin in Observance of Jackie Robinson Day

4/27/18

Miami Marlins’ Outfielder Cameron Maybin and children from Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade observed Jackie Robinson Day at Marlins Park with the unveiling of a special collaborative art installation commemorating Robinson’s perseverance through adversity.

The art installation was hand-crafted by students from Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Northwest Club on a Friday afternoon. Then, 15 stand-out students joined Maybin and the Marlins for the on-field, pre-game ceremony that revealed the installation on Jackie Robinson Day, April 15th. During the game, the art was displayed in the stadium lobby and after the game, the installation was donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.

“The kids had a great time with Cameron Maybin creating their individual drawings of overcoming adversity in honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson,” said Alex Rodriguez-Roig, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. “We are extremely grateful to the Maybin Mission for making the event possible.”
