Who/What: More than 3,000 walkers and runners will make strides in the ongoing fight against drunk driving during the 8th Annual La Croix & Lennox National Account Services Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K Brought to You by Ultimate Software on Sunday, April 29. This event is MADD Broward County’s annual signature fundraising event in support of its mission to end drunk driving. It takes place in over 90 cities in the U.S., including Fort Lauderdale.

The day’s festivities will also include children’s activities, an awards ceremony, live musical performances, vendor and educational booths, and appearances by local dignitaries, including Sheriff Scott Israel of Broward Sheriff's Office who is this year’s Honorary Chairperson; Volunteer Chairperson/National Board Member and newly appointed Vice Chair of MADD’s 2018 National Board Heather Geronemus, and event Co-chair Rachel Perz.

Established in 2011, this event has raised over $1.25 million that stays in our community to save lives and support victims of drunk driving. All event proceeds benefit MADD Broward & Palm Beach’s community education, victim support services and youth programs.

“This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Walk Like MADD events nationally where thousands of people rally together in over 90 cities around the country to help create a future of No More Victims®,”said Geronemus, Plantation resident and vibrant young professional at Ultimate Software who established and chaired the Fort Lauderdale event since 2011. Her father, Dr. Robert Perry Geronemus, was struck and killed by a drunk driver in 2009. “We look forward to making an even greater impact elimating drunk driving in South Florida as this event continues to grow with the support of our entire community.”
