Runners Decked Out in Pink Attire Will Hit the Course at the Annual Race for Women’s Wellness, Saturday March 24th

2/27/18

WHAT: Nearly 2,000 men, women and children are expected to lace up their sneakers and get PINKED out - sporting pink attire, including tutus, at the 13th Annual Race for Women’s Wellness—all in the name of breast cancer. The half marathon & 5K are presented by the City of Coral Springs and Broward Health with proceeds benefitting the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. This fun-filled morning will include a post-race party (decked out in pink) with food, live entertainment, and an awards presentation.

WHY: The funds go directly to the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund which provides free mammograms to women in our community who financially can’t afford them. Since its inception, the fund has screened more than 2,000 women, of which over 100 tested positive for cancer. These women are still alive today through the additional services they received within the Broward Health system.

WHO:The event is attended by a mix of men, women and children. Some are running enthusiasts who fly in from other parts of the country. Most runners are local and run in honor of or in memory of a loved one. Some runners are battling breast cancer or are survivors. Interviews are available upon request.

WHEN: Saturday, March 24th /

Half Marathon begins at 6 a.m. & 5K begins at 7:30 a.m.

WHERE: Runners and walkers of both the half marathon and 5K will start at the Coral Springs Tennis Center on Sportsplex Drive (2575 Sportsplex Drive). From there, participants will continue on a fast, flat and paved course that winds through the City. Race registration can be made at http://www.itzevents.com/raceforwomenswellness and for more info http://www.browardhealth.org/womensrace.
