The Dylan Schopp Sunshine Foundation Hosts Third Annual “Sunshine at the Park” Event

1/31/18

The sunshine-filled day at Markham Park will include performances by Hip Hop Kidz, Bounce Houses, Fitness Classes, a DJ and more

The Dylan Schopp Sunshine Foundation is proud to host its third annual “Sunshine at the Park” event Sunday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Markham Park. This year’s festival will feature bounce houses, face painting, zumba, a karate demonstration, silent auction and live performances by Hip Hop Kidz. A rock climbing wall, masseuse and various food trucks will also be on-site. The event will conclude with a butterfly release in honor of Dylan and those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Event registration is now open; presale tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and can be purchased here. Event proceeds will benefit suicide prevention organizations including the HOPE Sunshine Clubs created by Weston-based Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention (FISP).

“When we started this event, we never imagined it would become such a huge part of our community,” said Foundation Director Debbie Schopp. “We hope that with the funds raised this year, we will continue to raise awareness and support various suicide prevention and mental health programs.”

Markham Park is an important location for the Schopp family because it was one of Dylan’s favorite spots to enjoy time outdoors jet skiing and mountain biking with his dad. The park’s Butterfly Garden is also home to a dedicated bench in Dylan’s honor where family and friends often visit.

The Dylan Schopp Sunshine Foundation’s goal and purpose is to celebrate Dylan’s life and help his spirit and energy live on, in hopes of preventing similar tragedies.
