The new virtual program encourages women in our community to discuss problems faced in the workforce and find solutions
To fuse women’s knowledge and continue to create a growing community, The Commonwealth Institute South Florida, a nonprofit committed to advancing women in business, today launched its first online initiative open to all women, Just Ask TCI. Through the support of the John S. and L. Knight Foundation, The Commonwealth Institute South Florida invites women in the community to join the virtual hangout on the third Friday of every month, where TCI experts will discuss different topics and answer the difficult questions women may be too afraid to ask.
“We understand that some questions are too sensitive to discuss with your boss or staff,” said Laurie Kaye Davis, Executive Director of The Commonwealth Institute South Florida. “Thanks to the generous support tied to our Women in Technology Executive Forum, TCI is now able to provide a safe place for our community as a whole to discuss, and find answers to, some of the most difficult issues facing women in business today.”
Just Ask TCI aims to provide solutions to problems commonly faced in the workforce, allowing women in our community to grow personally and professionally. Women are encouraged to submit their questions regarding pre-selected topics from survey responses to be answered by Women in Technology Forum Members, the Board, and other seasoned experts. Upcoming Just Ask TCI sessions will explore topics including negotiation, executive presence, managing conflict, and marketing to name a few.
“Providing women entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow their business is essential to cultivating a successful innovation ecosystem in Miami,” said Sam Gill, VP/ Communities and Impact and senior adviser to the president at Knight Foundation. “Just Ask TCI is part of the Commonwealth Institute’s efforts to build a community of leading women in the industry to exchange insights and help scale ideas.”
The first Just Ask TCI will take place Friday, February 16th from 12-1 p.m. Lindy Smiley, SVP/Global Head of HR Starwood Property Trust, will answer questions and concerns pertaining to employee engagement, motivation, and mentoring. Participants are encouraged to join this discussion in the comfort of their own office by visiting https://zoom.us/j/830179374.
