The Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale hosted its 17th Annual Riverwalk Run and Riverwalk Race Party, raising more than $60,000. These annual fundraising events support the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale and their current community projects, including human trafficking awareness, childhood fitness and nutrition, as well as numerous done-in-a-day projects benefiting other non-profits, children and families in Broward County.

“This year’s events were particularly significant as we celebrate our organization’s 80th anniversary in Broward,” said league President Elizabeth Swann. “Bringing people together to positively affect our community has always been a goal of Junior League. We were excited and honored to celebrate this milestone with our members and supporters at these amazing events.” Annually, these combined events provide the greatest influx of dollars to Junior League, and give the organization the essential funding to focus on their critical initiatives.
More than 1,000 runners, walkers and supporters attended the Riverwalk Run, which was held at Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The event also featured a Kids’ Fun Run, lined with parents and volunteers to guide kids along the course. In celebration of the non-profit organization’s 80th anniversary in the community, participants were encouraged to dress up in 80s attire and received a special edition T-shirt.
Prior to the Riverwalk Run, the Junior League also held its annual Riverwalk Race Party at the Atlantic Hotel & Spa to raise funds and kick off the run festivities.
