Event Proceeds Benefit The Miami-Dade Athletes of Special Olympics Florida
WHO/WHAT: Gulliver, in partnership withSpecialOlympics Florida, is setto host its annual“Special OlympicsSponsor anAthlete 5K Run/ Walk” on Sunday, April 30, 2017.
The open-to-the-public charitable eventwill featurea certified 5K run/walk course, family activities and liveentertainment. Fundsraised will go towards the mission of theMiami-Dade chapter of SpecialOlympics Florida, anorganization that provides year-round sports trainingand athleticcompetition in a variety ofOlympic-type sports for 6,000children and adults with intellectualdisabilities.
The starting line is set for Gulliver Preparatory School, and the finish line for the school’s Sean Taylor Memorial Field, where participants will get a chance to wind down at the event’s “Olympic Village,” featuring live musical entertainment, complimentary snacks, beverages, and adelicious pancake breakfast provided by the Knights of Columbus,as well asa slew of not-to-be-missed family activities and vendor tents.
Expected attendees includePinecrestCouncilman Doug Kraft and Gulliver’s Head of Schools,Frank Steel, among other community influencers and notable personalities. The 5K is proudly sponsored by The Village of Pinecrest and Coca Cola.
Registration for this event is $25 per participant in advance or $30 on the day of the race.

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m., with the race scheduled to start at8:00 a.m. Once the race begins, festivities in the “Olympic Village” will begin.
