On April 5th, about 20 children from FLIPANY’S (Florida Introduces Physical Activity & Nutrition to Youth) after school programs and the local community let their imaginations run wild and drew their ideal playground. The community’s playground design will be built at Middle River Terrace Park in east Fort Lauderdale in June as part of the national initiative by KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve by bringing play to those who need it most.
The drawings are being used to pick out playground equipment and colors to build the actual new custom-built playground in ONE day on Friday, June 2, 2017 by volunteers from the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department, Middle River Terrace Neighborhood Association, The Central City Alliance, Target and FLIPANY in partnership with KaBOOM!
This is almost the 3,000th playground built by KaBOOM! and the third with FLIPANY.
