Singing sensation Bebe Rexha will take to the main stage at Miami Beach Gay Pride as headline performer for the Pride Festival. Rexha’s performance will begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, from the Festival’s main stage in Lummus Park just off Ocean Drive and 12th Street in Miami Beach. Miami Beach Gay Pride 2017 is presented by Celebrity Cruises.
“We’re extremely excited to have Bebe Rexha perform for our audience,” said Mark Fernandes, board chair for Pride. “She is so of-the-moment and her songs are all extremely popular. We are thrilled that she will officially kick-off the Pride Festival on Sunday right after the Opening Ceremony.”
Singer/songwriter Rexha has accumulated over 10 million sales of singles, one billion Spotify streams, and 1.3 billion combined YouTube/VEVO. Recently, she hit #1 on both the Billboard Pop and Rap charts with her Platinum-selling smash single “Me, Myself & I” with G-Eazy. Her single “No Broken Hearts” featuring Nicki Minaj has over 144 million YouTube/VEVO views to-date and she is featured on Martin Garrix’s latest single “In The Name of Love” which already has over 265 million YouTube/VEVO views. She recently released her latest singles “I Got You” and “F.F.F.” off of her debut album All Your Fault Part 1, which was released last month.
Her 2015 debut EP, I Don’t Wanna Grow Up [Warner Bros. Records] boasts the singles “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” and “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy,” which racked up over 52 million Spotify streams in only six months. That same year, she co-wrote the double-platinum “Hey Mama” by David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and Afrojack which was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Song, as well as the Billboard Hot 100 smash “Me, Myself, & I” with G-Eazy.
Rexha burst onto the scene in 2013 when she penned the song which became a worldwide hit for Eminem and Rihanna – “Monster” – which went RIAA quadruple-platinum in the U.S. She wrote and was featured on Cash Cash’s “Take Me Home” and Pitbull’s “This Is Not A Drill” in addition to writing Tinashe’s “All Hands On Deck” and Selena Gomez’s “Champion.”
Since its inception in 2009, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown from a neighborhood event to an event on the global stage with A-list celebrities such as Elvis Duran as Grand Marshal in 2016 and Jordin Sparks as headline entertainer. Mario Lopez was Grand Marshal in 2015, Gloria Estefan was Grand Marshal in 2014 and Adam Lambert performed in 2013. Attendance has grown as well. An estimated 15,000 spectators turned out for the first Pride parade in 2009; an estimated 130,000 attended the event in 2016, which attracted not only South Floridians, but also visitors from throughout the world. In addition to Parade spectators, last April’s event included more than 65 parade contingencies, 35 floats and 2,700 participants. The Pride Festival which followed featured more than 100 LGBTQ-friendly vendors and businesses, plus refreshments, two stages of entertainment, a family-friendly play area and fireworks. Recently, Miami Beach Gay Pride was named one of the “Top 100 Events of the Year” for the third year in a row by BizBash Magazine and earned the Pink Flamingo Award as favorite multi-day event for the fourth year in a row.
For 2017, Miami Beach Gay Pride will be a full, three-day weekend, April 7 – 9, and will include a Friday night VIP Reception, Saturday beach party and festival, and Sunday parade and festival.
