Entrepreneurs’ Organization – South Florida (EO-SOFLO) has teamed up with The Welcome Home Group (TWHG) to help South Florida veterans returning to civilian life with employment opportunities and entrepreneurship support.
In the first phase of the agreement, EO member companies will post job opportunities directly on TWHG career page, and EO will have access to TWHG’s database of hundreds of vets who have completed the TWHG 30-day career training “boot camp.” The database also lists the skills, education, experience and other qualities which make the vets attractive candidates for jobs at EO member companies.
EO-SOFLOis one of the world’s largest EO chapters with about 180 members who run businesses that account for more than 10,000 jobs and $2 billion in annual revenues in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
“We’re excited to partner with The Welcome Home Group and help our local vets thrive in a workplace or even create one of their own,” said Kip True, EO member and TWHG volunteer. “The transition to civilian life and the business world can be difficult for veterans, and we’re very proud to help these vets who have served our country so well.”
In the coming months, the new program also will include activities such as live and/or virtual job fairs, trainings, presentations and other joint events to help local vets learn to land a job, launch a start-up, open a franchise and other paths toward business and civilian success.
“Our members have a unique perspective on the skills and expertise needed for a successful business, especially here in South Florida,” said Aaron Lee, president of EO-SOFLO and founder of Illuminati Studios. “We know that vets have very special traits, made even more valuable with their TWHG training.”
Launched in South Florida in 2012, TWHG has placed almost 400 local vets with South Florida employers.
“This new program is going to be especially exciting because of the dynamic variety of EO member businesses that can offer career openings for our vets, as well as the advice and support on starting a company for themselves,” said TWHG founder Joe Corsino. “We look forward to building this relationship with EO and other South Florida businesses and organizations that recognize the great sacrifices vets have made for our country, and the amazing value they can provide to our local economy.”
