The National Association of Women Business Owners (Broward Chapter) kicked off their February 9, 2017 meeting discussing the future of women in business and the power that women have in the current White House Administration. President Julia Aquino shared the mission of NAWBO and why now more than ever women need to stick together in business to achieve more. Julia is achieving more with the recent launch of her own line of t-shirts called, Tees For Humanity. Her mission is to continue the conversation in the community about women's rights, women in business and how women are an integral part of the future of this country. Aquino's shirts promote sayings like "Ban Hate Not Immigrants" and " We Are All One" which promote trending topics that Americans are discussing.
Jane Snell- Simpson also addressed the group and shared NAWBO's position on Public Policy and what the impact would be to female entrepreneurs. Simpson shared with the group that Loreen Gilbert a current NAWBO National Board Member sits on the Trump Small Business Advisory Council. Gilbert is 1 of 19 women that were selected. Simpson ended by saying, "I'm happy that there is one of us (NAWBO member) in the White House."
Public Policy has always been at the forefront of this National organization. NAWBO National Board Chair Crystal Arredondo participated in the World in 2050 Future of Jobs and Education Summit in Washington, D.C. on January 13. Crystal also joined CNN political commentator Margaret Hoover and Sabrina Schaeffer of the Independent Women’s Forum for a conversation in Concord, New Hampshire, in advance of the Republican Presidential candidate’s debate on what women really want to talk about and hear from the presidential candidates.
Monthly NAWBO Broward meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday at the Marriott North Hotel located at 6650 N. Andrews Ave in Fort Lauderdale. For more information visit https://nawboftl.starchapter.com
