Pro players from across the globe are joined by local and international fans on Fort Lauderdale beaches and online
The Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series made its spectacular return to the beach on Tuesday, Feb. 7, starting off the 2017 season with the opening of the Fort Lauderdale Major. As teams headed to the sand for the qualification matches, CEO of the Beach Majors Company Hannes Jagerhofer was on site to launch such a historic premiere.
“There is a big increase of the Social Media Numbers and also of the Swatch Major Series. We were the most successful sports event at the powerful platform - Red Bull Media House - and we are very proud. It is awesome, how many people even watched the games already today at the side courts!”
Among the many new highlights included in the Swatch Major Series is Beach Stream, the new streaming service which allows fans all over the world to watch their favorite sport on the sand. During a tournament that is seeing an unprecedented number of new partnerships, Beach Stream will allow fans to not miss a single moment. Fans can view live streaming of matches by visiting to http://us.swatchmajorseries.com and clicking on “Beach Stream” in the navigation menu, as well as on Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series’ Facebook page, where can also view photos and videos from tournament matches.
Furthermore, for the first time in Swatch Series history, the legends of beach volleyball will get to shine under Center Court. Floodlights will illuminate the whole stadium, ensuring that the action on the beach will continue well after the sun goes down.
It’s not just fans who are excited. With a smile, Olympic legend Kerri Walsh-Jennings said, “Hannes is not doing anything the normal way, he dreams big and is a great promoter for us players. I have high expectations and I am proud to be here.”
The action-packed week of excitement continues through Sunday, Feb. 12, as the stars of beach volleyball take to the sand for the start of pool play.
