Area Mayors and Civic Leaders to Address the 2017 Outlook for the LGBTQ Community throughout South Florida

For the sixth year in a row, the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC) will convene area mayors, government dignitaries and LGBTQ community leaders to outline the successes and challenges facing LGBTQ people in the coming year. The 6th Annual “State of our Community” Networking Luncheon and Expo, presented by Morgan Stanley, will take place Tuesday, January 24, from 11 am to 2 pm at Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail in Miami.

Expected to attend and share their vision for 2017 and the impact it will have on the LGBTQ community are State Representative David Richardson, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, City of Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez, Equality Florida Deputy Director Stratton Pollitzer, and SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima.

Prior to the presentations, which will take place during the luncheon portion of the event, 20 MDGLCC members will have booths at the Expo where they can showcase their products or services and engage with luncheon guests. Booth spaces are still available. Contact Jorge Richa at the Chamber to reserve one of the coveted spots -- Jorge@GayBizMiami.com or 305-673-4440.

Presenting sponsor for the event is Morgan Stanley and the media sponsor is the Miami Herald and its Palette magazine, a glossy lifestyle publication that targets the LGBTQ community. At the event, Palette magazine and MDGLCC representatives will announce a new partnership that begins next month. MDGLCC’s CLARITY Business Magazine will now be published inside of Palette in three of its six editions – February/March, June/July and October/November. Other issues will feature several pages on the Chamber’s programming, initiatives and market outreach.

The partnership is designed to allow both publications to expand their reach to LGBTQ businesses and consumers. Published bi-monthly, Palette has a distribution of 35,000 copies per issue and is available free at 400 LGBTQ-friendly businesses, neighborhoods and events throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.
