Toys for Tots, Rebuilding Together and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge to Benefit

For the past eleven years, Current Builders, the Pompano Beach-based general commercial contractor, has held an end-of-year giving campaign. This year, the firm raised over $30,000 during their holiday drive, which will benefit Toys for Tots, Rebuilding Together Broward County and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.Through their foundation, Current Builders receives donations from their partners, employees, clients, subcontractors and friends which they disperse to outstanding nonprofits. This year they raised $10,000 more than last year’s goal.

“Current Builders holds this annual tradition of giving near and dear to its heart. It makes us very proud to commemorate this holiday season by once again, exceeding our goal and offering support to these very deserving non-profit organizations that do so much good for our community," shared Current Builders’ CEO, Chip Reid.

Last week, Toys for Tots’ representative Sergeant Ray Lynch arrived at Current Builders to find a large meeting room packed with $10,000 worth of bikes and toys. Current Builders’ staff filled the Toys for Tots’ truck with over 100 bikes and innumerable stacks of the hottest toys. The staff coordinates the gift buying with Walmart, which provides a 10% discount.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

On the same day, Robin Martin, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together- Broward County, arrived at Current Builders to receive a check for $7,500. These funds will be directed towards helping the nonprofits’ veterans’ initiative.

Rebuilding Together’s Veterans Housing Initiative was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. The initiative serves to fill the gaps in housing modifications and repair services that retired and active service men and women struggle to meet. Working in partnership with corporate sponsors, Rebuilding Together’s Veterans Housing Initiative strives to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans.

The remaining funds raised will be directed towards the Dolphin’s Cancer Challenge, which raises funds for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and take place in February.
