SPBC FAWL Donates $1,000 to Susan G. Komen® South Florida Affiliate
Nearly 70 guests attended the Oct. 13 Think Pink Luncheon at the Boca Grove Country Club in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, hosted by the South Palm Beach County Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (SPBC FAWL). SPBC FAWL raised and donated $1,000 to the Susan G. Komen® South Florida Affiliate, presenting the check to Dayve Gabbard, Susan G. Komen South Florida Affiliate’s executive director. Gabbard spoke about the importance of screenings, with and without the BRACA gene. She also elaborated on Susan G. Komen’s mission: to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering others, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
Breast cancer survivor Lisa Rose, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, spoke of her mentors and how she celebrates life more than ever, and optimistically looks forward to a long, healthy life. SPBC FAWL President Taryn Sinatra lauded the speakers for motivating all attendees to ensure they get their annual exams, and to be proactive to possibly catch the disease as early as possible. Sinatra also praised event chair Stacey Mullins and her team for their efforts, which produced a successful and informative luncheon.
