Apollo Bank, one of Miami’s strongest and fastest growing community banks, recently received two prestigious awards honoring the bank as a top employer statewide and nationally.
Apollo Bank was named one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2016 nationally by the leading banking publication American Banker Magazine. The bank was also named one of Florida’s Best Companies to Work For by the statewide business magazine Florida Trend for the second consecutive year.
“To be named to both the Best Banks to Work For and Florida’s Best Companies to Work For list is a credit to the culture we have established since the bank’s launch in 2010,” said Eddy Arriola, Chairman and CEO of Apollo Bank. “We launched Apollo Bank then with the mission to not only build a great bank, but to become an admirable company. These recognitions are a testament to the workplace we are building for our team and it’s reflected in the personalized service we are delivering for our clients.”
The Best Companies Group conducted both award programs. For each award, companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
The award recognitions highlighted some of Apollo Bank’s most notable employee programs, including: its community service policy that grants employees eight hours of paid time off to volunteer in a community service project the Bank is supporting; roughly six cooking contests a year for employees to compete for the chance to win gift cards and bragging rights; and a wellness program that offers chair massages, health fairs, and biometric screenings.
American Banker’s Best Banks to Work For recognizes and honors the best banks to work for in the US. In all, 60 banks achieved “Best Bank” status in this fourth year of the program. To be eligible, companies must have at least 50 employees working in the US. Florida’s Best Companies to Work For is an annual feature published in Florida Trend that ranks 100 companies in the small, medium and large employer categories. To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year.
In addition to being named one of the best places to work by these publications, Apollo Bank continues its growth trajectory. Last year, the bank surpassed the $500 million milestone in total assets and has also achieved a five-star ranking in Bauer Financials’ quarterly ratings. Apollo Bank has a network of seven branches across Miami-Dade’s chief business and residential communities, including the Brickell Financial District, Downtown Miami, Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, Westchester and Hialeah.
