WHY: Northwest Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is unveiling a brand new Gamesroom on August 31, 2016 thanks to a $16,500 Triple Play grant from Florida health plans Amerigroup and Simply Health Care. The grant provided much-needed updates in equipment and supplies for the Club’s Gamesroom that is the central hub for kids and teens to learn about team work, getting along with others and leadership. The ribbon cutting for opening of the new room includes areas where kids can play educational games, fun physical activities and spaces where kids can create and form friendships.
Triple Play is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s signature health and wellness program focused on the mind, body and soul to teach kids about living a healthy lifestyle. Triple Play has made connections with more than 10 million kids over the last decade. The Triple Play program motivates kids to be healthy by providing nutrition and health education, more access to healthy foods, and encouraging avoidance of risky behaviors and a lifelong commitment to fitness. With the addition of the Club’s newest activity room, kids will have the opportunity to celebrate active, healthy living and continue building strong relationships with their peers and Club mentors.
