Shoppe 561 is adding a bit of Latin flair to its mix of artisan offerings with the addition of its first cooking workshop, featuring Executive Chef Clayton Carnes of the new Cholo Soy Cocina.

Carnes, a reigning champion of The Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen, will share his secrets to creating authentic street tacos on Wednesday, June 8, at Shoppe 561, 319 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach. The class begins at 7 p.m.; cost is $35 per person. Register for the class, as part of the new Wednesday Enrichment Series, at www.shoppe561.com.

“I’m very excited to collaborate with Shoppe 561, which will be one of my neighbors when Cholo opens this summer,” Carnes said. “People gain a real appreciation for the ingredients and the preparation when they can experience it for themselves. I look forward to sharing my passion for Latin street food with the South Florida foodie-faithful.”

Scheduled to open this summer at 3715 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, Cholo Soy Cocina will feature a menu ofAndean-American selections and tacos crafted from freshly made Florida organic white corn tortillas, locally grown produce and top–quality meats and ingredients.

Carnes’ cooking class is part of a new Enrichment Series at Shoppe 561, which will welcome guests Wednesday and Thursday nights to learn from experts. Class participants will be encouraged to experience what inspires passion and appreciation through hands-on lessons in a small group setting.

“Whether you’re traveling and want to learn more about South Florida from its talented residents or you’re a resident seeking a new experience at home, we want to make that happen for you,” said Janelle Lang, Shoppe 561 Shoppe Keeper.
