Holy Cross Health has named Stonish Pierce, FACHE as Chief Operating Officer, effective January 25, 2021.

Pierce is a board-certified healthcare executive with diverse clinical and leadership experiences in acute and ambulatory operations spanning from not-for-profit, public, private, government, academic/teaching and faith-based hospitals to integrated delivery systems and for-profit physical therapy sectors.

Prior to joining Holy Cross Health, Pierce was System Vice President, Specialty Services for Beaumont Health, Michigan’s largest health system based on inpatient admissions and net patient revenue. During his tenure there, he recruited more than 150 physicians, co-led the transition of the physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) residency to internal oversight, transitioned the employed hospitalist program to a value-based model, facilitated top decile divisional employee engagement and transitioned more than 700 physicians to telehealth in the midst of COVID-19.

Prior to Beaumont, Pierce served as Regional Chief Operating and Business Development Officer for Chicago-based Presence Health (Ascension) where his leadership resulted in the developments of the Presence Center for Cancer and Specialty Care, the Presence Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Care and Presence Pain Care. Pierce’s experience also includes positions with San Diego-based Palomar Health (Mayo Care Network) and the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

A three-time recertified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Pierce is also a recipient of ACHE’s regional Early Career Healthcare Executive Award and Distinguished Service Awards. He was also recognized by his alma mater, the University of Southern California (USC), with the Price School’s 90 Pioneers of 90 Years Award. Pierce earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Health Administration degree with a graduate certificate in management, all from USC.
