Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann is pleased to announce that Matthew A. Margolis has joined the firm as an associate attorney. Mr. Margolis focuses his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, government law and construction law.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Margolis worked at a national commercial litigation firm and served as an Assistant General Counsel at the State of Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity. He regularly represents governmental entities in matters involving sovereign immunity, qualified immunity, 11th Amendment immunity, federal state action doctrines, 1983 actions, wrongful death claims, municipal code violations, Chapter 119 violations, harassment, gender discrimination, retaliation, Title VII, Title IX, Federal and State whistleblower violations, procurement compliance and bid-protests, fraud, and other common law torts.

In the construction realm, his clients include owners, developers, general contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, product manufacturers, and other professionals involved in the purchasing or construction of real estate. These representations include construction and design defect disputes, real estate development disputes, and a multitude of other matters.

Mr. Margolis is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Florida. A triple graduate of Florida State University, he received his undergraduate, master’s and juris doctor degrees from the university.
