As Miami-Dade County students prepare to begin the new school year remotely, Cattoira Montessori School will be ready to safely accommodate its students back on campus thanks in part to free COVID testing made available to all teachers and staff.This was made possible by Las Madrinas Medical Centers, a MedCare Company with eight medical offices serving the needs of local Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and ACA patients throughout Miami-Dade County.
“We have been a part of this community for years and know how important it is for kids to safely go back to school, especially those from working families,” said Rudy Rodriguez-Duret, CEO of MedCare and Las Madrinas Medical Centers. “We partnered with a local lab to make sure that test results were turned around in less than 24 hours to make teachers and families alike more comfortable.”
Privately held Cattoira Montessori School was eager to welcome students back to class in person. The school is located at SW 79 th St. in Miami and offers early childhood, primary and elementary school classes to its families. The school has implemented safety measures that meet or exceed CDC recommendations. This includes the use of masks, daily health screening protocols, enhanced hand sanitizing and washing and a strict policy of not allowing visitors in school buildings while utilizing outdoor classrooms as much as possible.
As an extra safety precaution, the school wanted to get all teachers tested for COVID-19 before students returned but were concerned about getting the results back in time. Las Madrinas Medical Centers was happy to step in and help the school by organizing on-site testing with timely results free of charge.
All teachers and staff were tested by Las Madrinas medical professionals using a nasal swab testing kit. All teachers and staff tested negative, giving families some extra peace of mind.
